Evan J Xavier
One nice thing about networking is that I get to meet all sorts of interesting people, such as rising-star Evan J Xavier. He was kind enough to agree to an interview and this is what he has to say about his work and life in general.
1. How did you get your start writing gay fiction and/or erotica? Please tell us a bit about your background and early beginnings.
After I left college I went to culinary school to become a Pastry Chef. I worked about a year doing that then mother nature happened. I decided to head to Las Vegas to start over. Had the pleasure of working for a well known tech company. I worked my way up from the bottom and became the head guy of their training department, which brought about tons of stress.
After five years of living and working in Vegas I moved back to Alabama and didn't really do anything for about a year. I started writing articles for web sites and that brought in some money. I couldn't find a job. I was either overqualified or didn't have enough experience.
I didn't start thinking about writing gay ficiion until a few months ago. I was on Amazon looking for stories to read and I somehow ran across a Jay Bell title and of course your daddy series as suggested by Amazon. Haha. So, I downloaded a few books to my Kindle and loved them. Since Dec 13, 2011 I have published five books, and one collection.
(Nathan: Lol @ my daddy stories. Speaking of Jay Bell, I've interviewed him too. Nice guy).
2. Which of your books would you say is the steamiest and why?
At the moment I'd say Roadside ASSistance is the steamiest. It's about a guy stranded on a country road with a blow out. He calls roadside assistance like most of us have done, he's instantly attracted to his savior. Chris happens to end up on all fours along side the road in mud as rain pours down from the sky. Mud sex...how hot is that?!
(Nathan: Sounds like a hot time).
3. What do you hope to accomplish with your writing?
Just for folks to enjoy. In each of my books there's a piece of me. I don't want to put all my business out there so I do change the names and locations, but I still try to keep it real as much as possible. I don't take myself too seriously. This is pure fun and I have a blast telling stories.
( Nathan: I agree. There's always a hint of the author in his stories).
4. Alright, now for some lighthearted questions.
a. Which male actor would you say is the hottest and why?
OK, living actor I'd have to go with Bruce Willis hands down.
But if James Dean were alive right now, he could totally get it.
b. Same for male singer.
D'Angelo. Yes. D'Angelo circa 2000. His video "How Does It Feel" did it for me. It's a one shot of him nude. His abs are popping, sweat is running down his cut body. You want the camera to pan down just little more so you can see his goodies. I remember the first time I saw the video. I was in the student union and I heard a girls screaming. I ran over and there was a crowd of people gathered around the TV; I was able to catch the last 10 seconds of it. I had to walk with my book bag in front of me until I reached my car. And I damn near broke my neck getting to the TV anytime it played on MTV.
c. And male model, if you have one.
He's not a big name, but he should be. Joey Sylvester (http://www.modelmayhem.com/joeysylvester). I found him when I was studying one of my favorite photographers Rick Day. He has those drop instantly to your knees good looks.
(Nathan: Just checked him out. Yowza!)
Nathan: Thank you, Evan. For my dear readers, if you're looking for a good read, please check out Evan's works. I personally love his amazingly sexy covers.
